Woman robbed after cashing check

WICHITA — A woman cashed her assistance check Wednesday morning — and then was robbed of the cash minutes later.

She told police she was pushed into her car by an unknown man shortly before 9 a.m. in the 2800 block of West 48th Street South. He took more than $700 in cash.

The 55-year-old victim was not seriously injured. It was the second time in recent months that she had been robbed of her assistance check, she said.
