Keywords:Wichita was chosen Friday to host the 2011 Junior Olympics, an event that is expected to attract more than 6,500 athletes and have an economic impact of $11 million to $13 million.
Wichita was awarded the event at the USA Track & Field's annual meeting in Indianapolis. Houston and Des Moines also were finalists.
The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission, which led the effort to bring the Junior Olympics to Wichita, plans to discuss further details at a news conference on Sunday.
